From the same Director who made District 9 and Elysium comes Chappie, a futuristic sci-fi drama about a self-aware, artificially intelligent robot out to discover the world in all its glory and malevolence. Neill Blomkamp can handle his action and drama, but is most known for his biting social commentary. And with a powerhouse cast that includes Huge Jackman, Dev Patel, and Sharlito Copley, I expect this movie to leave a deep, lingering, philosophical footprint on my soul.
#9 Birdman (January 28, 2015)
Michael Keaton plays a washed up actor who acquired his stardom from playing a renowned superhero, Bat…I mean, Birdman. It’s GENIUS! How ironic appropriate is that?!
This has actually already been released in the US months ago, and since then, it’s been getting some pretty sweet reviews. All the more reason for me to get seriously excited about this one!
#8 Into The Woods (January 28, 2015)
We all know Disney. Disney is musicals, fairy tales, love and magic and all that jazz. And Into The Woods is all of that in one glorious movie extravaganza! The plot takes all these different Disney favorites like Cinderella and Jack and the Bean Stalk (to name a few) and gives them a bit of a twist.
Chris Pine, Johnny Depp, along with Anna Kendrick, to star. Here’s hoping they get to do a lot of singing! Time to start memorizing Disney songs again!
#7 B.O.O. Bureau of Otherworldly Operations (June 4, 2015)
It’s the Men In Black, but with ghosts! B.O.O. (or the Bureau of Otherworldly Operations) is a super-secret agency that fends off hauntings and ghostly attacks. With Seth Rogen and Melissa McCarthy leading the voice cast, and Matt Bomer and Bill Murray supporting, this is shaping up to be one fun and BOOtiful movie!
#6 Pixels (July 24, 2015 according to the Movie Insider)
The government recruits VIDEO GAME MASTERS to help defend the New York against an attack from 80s-era video game characters! Oh, the fun of that idea! I’m crazy excited to see this if only to reminisce on classic video games! And with Adam Sandler, Kevin James, and Josh Gad, this should be a really fun and fantastic flick.
Also - Peter Dinklage sporting a mullet? LUV EET!!!
#5 American Sniper (January 21, 2015)
Have you SEEN that first trailer?? Coz it’s been in cinemas for weeks now! And with just one scene it managed to peak my interest. It’s this scene of a sniper being forced to decide whether or not to SHOOT A CHILD. If that doesn’t get your attention and rile you up, then you sir, are a rock.
And this second trailer is even MORE gripping! This movie can't come soon enough!
#4 Mortdecai (January 23, 2015 according to the Movie Insider)
When Johnny Depp plays a character, he does so with such commitment and passion. Along with Edward Scissorhands, Sweeney Todd, and Jack Sparrow, the sharp, witty and charming Charles Mortdecai is a sure inductee to the Johnny Depp Crazy Character Hall of Fame.
#3 Tomorrowland (May 22, 2015)
This film, named after the futuristic world found within Disney Theme Parks, is shrouded with mystery. I don’t know much about it yet, but from the teaser trailer, it looks like it’s going to be a very stylish, ultramodern sci-fi adventure.
And it has George Clooney, which should be enough reason for everyone to get on board with it!
#2 Kingsman: The Secret Service (February 18, 2015)
Covert English spies brimming with class and suave – that’s the Kingsman. So who better to play one of its top agents than Colin Firth, one of the classiest, most proper Englishmen on the planet! With a story by Mark Millar (Kick Ass, Wanted, Ultimate Avengers) and the direction of Matthew Vaughn (X-Men: First Class, Kick Ass), it’s sure to be one action-packed spectacle!
#1 Ant-Man (July 22, 2015)
Ant-Man is a Marvel superhero who can shrink…AND TALK TO ANTS. Yup, that’s right. This movie proves, once again, that we’d watch just about anything with the word “Marvel” on it.
Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas and Evangeline Lilly star in this one-of-a-kind superhero heist movie. Ant-Man’s been through production hell for so long, so I’m glad they’re finally going to be able to show it soon. I absolutely can’t wait for the first trailer to come out!!! I don’t think I’ve ever not liked a Marvel movie, and I sure as hell ain’t starting now!
