Anime Shows To Catch During The Holiday Break!

comp

I haven’t been a big anime fan since the time of Dragon Ball Z, Ghost Fighter (Yuyu Hakusho), Zenki and Fushigi Yuugi, but I’ve recently come across a few new shows that I ended up absolutely loving! They’re what I would call gateway anime – fun shows that are easy enough to follow if you want to get back into it. Anime these days cover a variety of themes, but my personal picks are about food, hyperactive hormones, a bored, bald, and an overpowered superhero.

Bett's Birthday Bash: Marikina's Lilac Food Street

IMG_5038 IMG_5072

For Bett's birthday last December, we decided to go on a food trip along Marikina's up and coming food street, Lilac Street!

Did YOU know Marikina had their own version of Teacher's Village's Maginhawa? Well I didn't! It's not yet as packed with restos as our Maginhawa (represent, yo!) but it still has some pretty awesome hole-in-a-wall food spots! And here were some of the places we visited!

Chicken Fury at Tornado Peri Peri Chicken!

IMG_4576 IMG_4575

Tornado Peri Peri Chicken is like a box of chocolates...you never know what you're gonna get.

...and that, my friends, was the cheesiest intro I have ever written in my entire life. But it's still pretty accurate. In more ways than one, Tornado Peri Peri Chicken was a giant surprise to us when we visited!

MEAT OVERLOAD at RBy's!

IMG_4540 IMG_4532

I looooove meat! I'd date meat, take meat out on movies, cuddle with meat, and make babies with meat. That's how much I love meat!

And if you wanna talk meat love, then you gotta talk about Philly Cheesesteaks! It's a sandwich sandwich loaded with thinly-sliced pieces of steak covered with melted cheese! It's not as big here in the Philippines but in the US, along with burgers and hotdogs, cheesesteaks are a classic!

IMG_4542
Dat meat though...

And it's time for us to get with the program! Good thing RBy's decided to bring this classic sandwich here!

Caffera: Picture Perfect Project

IMG_6689

A good photograph, needs no explanation. Just one look and you already know it's something special. In the same way, Caffera need not be explained, but only appreciated for its one of a kind aesthetic.

Blending Old and New at Tiago

The past and future (of food) meet at Tiago!

Because I can think of no better way to describe their amazingly inventive food!

For Kebab Lovers, By Kebab Lovers

IMG_4234

Do you love kebabs? I sure do! Kebabs after drinking! Kebabs after football! Kebabs after…more kebabs! I love kebabs, you love kebabs, and so do the brothers behind Abdul the Cool! (Best. segue. ever.) Abdul the Cool is Maginhawa's latest Persian spot. Opening just last July 26, they serve kebabs for kebab lovers, BY kebab lovers.

Shake It Up! at Taste of Heaven Milkshake Bar

Move over milk teas of the world, the age of milkSHAKES has arrived!

I know it's not revolutionary, but they're certainly making a comeback! I've seen and tried some of the new milk shake places but few are as thick and flavorful than A Taste of Heaven Milkshake Hub!

IMG_4072 IMG_4080
Thick and tasty! My kind of milkshake!

Games Are Meant To Be Played at Ludo BoardGame Bar and Cafe

"Games are meant to be played."

That is the philosophy behind Ludo BoardGame Bar and Cafe.

banner
"Ludo" - Latin for game or play.

Ludo BoardGame Bar is jam-packed with diners on a nightly basis! As in! And it's pretty obvious why that is...

Board games. Tons and tons of fun, exhilarating, board games!

Dreamland Dining at Rustic Mornings

IMG_1892

Rustic Mornings is proof that dreams DO come true! Despite not having any formal culinary training, Portia Baluyut's dream of opening a restaurant and sharing great food came true. And coincidentally, Rustic Mornings' easy, ethereal charm is almost dream-like.

IMG_3486
Welcome to dreamland.

Imagine, if you will, a spacious garden; small patios with tables and chairs are spread around; bottles, sea shells and thin, white veils are hung around the dining tables giving a sense of privacy; rays of light leak through the leaves; french music plays softly in the background and the fresh, outdoor air provides the ventilation. Seriously, this place is nothing like anything I've seen before.

Little India Healthy Cuisine: Vegetarian becomes Vege-tastic!

IMG_3390

I learned a few new things today about Indian food from Little India Healthy Cuisine. We already know that the food Indians put in their body is deeply rooted in their culture and spiritual beliefs but did you know that originally, Indian food was primarily vegetarian? The chicken and fish just came later on.

Why? Because they believe in maintaining clarity of mind and having complete control of their senses and urges. Meats, garlics, onions, (to name a few) are stimulants and promote aggression but the Sattvik diet (vegetarianism minus garlic and onions) promotes a more passive state of mind.

So aside from the obvious physically benefits, a vegetarian diet also keeps you healthy mentally and emotionally.

Little India Healthy Cuisine is a purely vegetarian restaurant (VEGETARIANS REJOICE!). But I'm not trying to make you convert into vegetarianism. (I'm not even vegetarian.) Because vegetarian or not, once you taste the delicious exotic food of Little India, you'll forget there was a difference!

Birthday Breakfast at The Breakfast Table

Paging all Breakfast Date Lovers (I’m looking at you, Max Aficial), there’s a new place in town where you can bring your significant other to start the day right.

IMG_2281

Bett and I looked for a new place to try on Birthday. We had an early breakfast since we have work. Good thing we found the perfect place!

King Kong Attacks Empire Steak

IMG_2233
King Kong's Steak, that is!

If you’re looking for quality steak, at a reasonable price, then Empire Steak is where you can get it!

IMG_2213 IMG_2207
Empire "Steak". Get it? Get it???

Classics Collected at Chef Robert

Ever had a hard time deciding if you want Thai Curry or Fried Tilapia? They're two of your favorites, but are unfortunately located in two different restaurants. But what if I told you you could get both (and more) of your food favorites in just one place?

IMG_2005

That's what Chef Robert wanted to do when he created his restaurant - gather all of the classics and favorites and put them all under one roof! He calls it comfort food. The menu can get a bit overwhelming (since they serve so many food favorites) but breeze through it so you get the best collection of dishes you can possibly want!

Movie Icon Mayhem! @ Movie Stars Cafe

IMG_1511

That was the most fun I've ever had in a "restaurant"! (If that's what you want to call it.)

Movie Stars Cafe (MSC) is a resto-museum with a Cosplayer attitude and some Disneyland flare.

IMG_1512

Let me elaborate.

Opa! Greeka Kouzina!

My first official blogger event :) Woohoo!!

IMG_1049
IMG_1031

Bett was invited to a bloggers’ lunch at Greeka Kouzina, and then she, in turn, invited me. It was my first time being around other (seasoned) bloggers. I felt I didn’t belong. Heck, I wasn’t even really supposed to be there. The whole time, I was worried my work wouldn't even compare to what the others there could make.

2 Years Young!

Last Feb. 10, Bettina and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary of being together! Wooht! Doesn't even feel like 2 months.:)

Disclaimer: This is a pretty late post, mainly because of the numerous photos I took.:) But one month isn't too late, I think. Hahaha!

Ribs and Relaxation at The Porch

IMG_02642

There's a new resto in town. It's called The Porch. Aptly so, because it looks like a ranch slash country home. It stands out as the clean white house in the midst of a very busy street. There are also these little things - a mini library, a mailbox and a bird cage - that makes it feel like a home away from home. It's a small place, sure, and yet it doesn't feel tight.

Spanish Food Fix: Galli Village Cafe

IMG_0197

I’ve always wanted to see the world. I’ve been to my fair share of countries but I’m not as well traveled as restaurant owner, Ms. Christine Arriola-Villonco. Christine adorns her restaurant’s walls with her travel photos (and other travel trinkets). And immediately, you see just where she got the inspiration of her new restaurant, Galli Village Café.

Galli Village Café is a quaint and relaxed Spanish restaurant along Maginhawa. Through it, Christine tries to give diners an authentic Spanish cuisine in an authentic European rustic café setting. Lucky for me, because I love Spanish food! I think it comes naturally us Filipinos.

Classy, Cozy and Yummy : Via Antonella

Disclaimer: I apologize in advance if my description of the food seem redundant. I can say "ang sarap" in only so many ways.:)

IMG_0070

For years I've been searching for a nice, romantic, classy place to bring my girlfriend that's not too expensive. And I'm sure a lot of guys look for a similar place. And I'm here to tell those guys - it's not a myth! I've found it! There really IS a place like that!

And this place is called Via Antonella!
