Another year, another ToyCon! Yay! (Said me and every other nerd in Metro Manila)
For those who don’t know, ToyCon (or Toy Convention) is the single biggest event in the Philippines where comic book, sci fi, anime, video game, and Cosplay geeks are gathered to celebrate all geekishness.

Even though I’m not a toy collector, I still go to see the awesome statues they have on display there every year. Here are some of my favorites. Both commercially sold and custom made. (Be warned, THERE IS A LOT.)

The cosplaying is absolutely fun to see. It’s as close as you’re ever going to get to have your favorite characters come to life! And even though our cosplay in the Philippines is miles from what it is in the US or Japan, every now and then I see a cosplayer and I go “that’s actually pretty good!” Pinoy ingenuity is quickly advancing to a global level! Just look at Alodia! She’s famous all over the world for her costumes (not to mention her doll-esque beauty.)

I look forward to going to ToyCon every year. It’s a wonderland for fanatics. And with the rise of all the superhero movie phenomenon, the con grows bigger and better every year! Pretty soon, Megatrade isn’t going to be enough to house us! Maybe the next one’s going to be at an open field or something? Haha, wherever it’s going be, I’m going to be there for sure! I can’t wait!
