Chef Paul's Rockin' Waffles

The ULTIMATE TAMBAYAN just opened up in QC! Chef Paul’s!

I don’t know where to even start with this. Do I start with the snazzy rock themed interiors? Or the instruments they let customers play around with? Or the pillow laden elevated lounge they built? Or the delicious food and drinks they serve (at affordable prices, mind you)? Gahh!

Chef Paul’s opened last December 2013. They’re a dessert and coffee shop, but their specialty is their waffle menu. Brother and sister tandem Chef Paul Lacanienta and Cai Dumandal, came up with the idea of creating the hangout spot to end all hangout spots. Here are just some of the reasons why I’d definitely come back there with my barkada:

• The place is uber cool! The artsy kind of cool! They have amazing Beatles and Eraserheads wall paintings done by UP fine arts students, a wallpaper paper from posters of retro icons and chord book pages, and “curtains” made from vinyl records. (They’re obviously a music loving family.)

What time is it? It's CHOWTIME!

• There’s an elevated lounge with pillows instead of chairs, and a beanbag area with coffee tables made from old tires where you can chill out with friends.

• Guitars (and a ukulele) are hung on the walls which customers can play anytime! Not enough? Well there’s also an amp and an effects pedal for your performance level jamming sessions.

• Not a musician? Then how about playing a board game while waiting for your food? Or after eating. Up to you!

• And of course, none of this would matter if the food isn’t good. But to cap it all off, the food is delicious! And they give generous servings for a very affordable price! See below what we got to try:

• They plan on including pasta and more “manly” food, like this Waffle Burger!

• Oh and in the future, they have plans of putting a TV there and showing basketball, boxing or other PPV events for the customers! (Imagine watching Pacquiao’s fights on a bean bag while drinking a nice cold frappe with your buddies!)

It’s crazy! Everything I want in a tambayan is there! Music, sports (soon), food, and pillows! Add some video games there and I would probably never leave! (Hint, hint, Chef Paul’s). I’ll definitely be coming back! Chef Paul’s is one awesome, artsy fartsy, music-lovin’, waffle-makin’, cafe!
